This is the first day we bought the car – all original, except for the color and the Cragar 5-Stars.

The car originated in Georgia and made its way to Ohio about three years ago where I picked it up.   A photo of the interior…. Since this photo was taken,

the seats have been recovered, frames bead blasted and rust-proofed.  Aluminum side trim has been re-anodized as well.  .

Now – the fun began ………….  Everything has been removed…………-

More of the same – before the engine and wiring harnesses were pulled – the red is not rust – but a red primer (Eastwood product)

Next stop – after pulling the engine and tranny – a trip to the body shop to have the paint stripped – then start the body work – very little rust – mostly pin holes and one area that had body filler.  Will use the old method – lead.  Body filler will shrink – not so with lead.

All the chrome and stainless has been rechromed and/or polished by a local shop.  The entire undercarriage has been pressure cleaned to remove all the Georgia red clay, dirt, grease, oil, etc.  This has already been primered and rust proofed.

Ultimate goal  -  to be done by June, 2001.   More photos to follow.

UPDATE!!!!

Engine, tranny and wiring harnesses all pulled. Paint has been stripped and is in primer.  Paint removed. using baking soda - does a nice job but is a pain to clean.  Soda gets into every nook and cranny - have to neutralize using STRONG vinegar.  Will was up to 2-3 more times.  Have found a few more pin holes and a big dent that I made when something fell on it in the garage.  Should be ready to paint soon.  Fingers crossed!!!!

Keep checking back here for updates on this project!
