67,000 Original Miles!

I purchased this car in stock original condition from a guy at the Good Guys Nationals here in Indianapolis. The car was originally purchased from Gauthier Motors by Myrle Alford in Danvers Ma. The sale date was November 5, 1965 I do not know how many owners the car has had.

I started out re doing the engine and fix a broken motor mount and things got a little crazy from there.

The original engine 289 was re-done by Champion Engine shop .030 over with new rods crank pistons main studs and a healthy cam. It has Edelbrock heads and intake manifold running a Holley 800-cfm carb, hooker headers coated by Keco here in Indy, all MSD Electronics. The engine will crank out a safe and efficient 400 hp it is hooked to a BTE performance C-4 transmission, Custom drive shaft, 9” ford with 28 spline axles with mini spool, and a 4.11 Pro gear. The car had power drum brakes but it was converted in the front with a Crites Disc Brake Kit and the rear are Wildwood. The car is sitting on a set of adjustable Hal shocks and Crites supplied the frame connectors and the rear spring relocation kit. I did mini tub or split the wheel wells in the car so I could run 10.5-inch wide tires in the rear and 3.5 front all mounted on Torque Thruster Grey center wheels.

I had a friend help me mini tub the inside of the wheel wells.  We split the wheel wells with a die grinder and moved the inside half over 3" we welded a metal band in the 3" groove.  We cut the trunk supports off of the wheel well before moving them and re-welded them in the same stock location.

We used Crites Rear Spring relocation kit.  This will narrow spring width to 32 1/2 inches center to center making up to 10 1/2 inch tires useable without cutting wheel housing.

The wheel size is 15 x 8.5 and the tire is a 29.5 x 10.5-15"

Doing both the above together will get you way more room for even bigger tires but I wanted a 10.5" tire car for weekend race and shows.

You can just use the Crites kit and still obtain the room needed for the 10.5" tire.  However, be prepared for the AFX look or the car sitting real high off the ground to clear the body.

Torque Thrust Wheels were used to give it the nostalgia pepped up look.  I can't remember the backspace on the wheel but that won't help you much if you stay with the stock rear axle length.  You will have to measure for backspace.

It got a healthy dose of new rubber, carpet, heater core, and all new chrome insignia .

PST helped me with all new under carriage rubber parts, and a new 1-½ sway bar for better handling and a quiet ride.

The car will be a true street cruiser when it is done and it still wears the original paint ( it stills shines but it is faded).

I hope you like the car has much as I do it was pretty hard work took some time but I think it will be worth it when I get it rolling out this spring.

Thank You
